Manchester United’s Garnacho in Talks Over Chelsea Move
Chelsea have opened discussions with Manchester United over a potential move for Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho, Sport360NG reports.
The 21-year-old has been told to seek a new club after United boss Ruben Amorim concluded the player was ready for a different challenge. Garnacho almost joined Chelsea in January and was confident a deal would be finalised, but the transfer never materialised.
Talks between the clubs have continued quietly throughout the summer, and while negotiations have intensified in recent days, no agreement has yet been reached. United value Garnacho highly, with his home-grown status meaning any fee would significantly benefit the club’s profit and sustainability calculations. However, it is uncertain whether the Red Devils can achieve their initial £60m asking price.
Amorim came under fire in May for advising Garnacho to move on shortly after United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. Although the winger travelled on the club’s post-season tour of Asia, he appeared distant and disengaged. He was later omitted from the squad’s recent trip to the United States and told to train separately alongside other unwanted players, including Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford, who has since joined Barcelona on loan.
Speaking in Chicago last week, Amorim acknowledged Garnacho’s ability but hinted at a lack of alignment between player and manager.
“You can see he’s a really talented boy,” said Amorim. “But sometimes things don’t click. I feel he wants something different, with different leadership. That’s natural in football, sometimes you connect with a coach, other times you seek a new challenge.”
