Bissouma Dropped from Tottenham Squad for PSG Clash Over Lateness
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has been omitted from the squad to face Paris Saint-Germain in Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup due to repeated lateness, Sport360NG reports.
Spurs have travelled to Udine, Italy, for the high-profile encounter against Luis Enrique’s side, but manager Thomas Frank confirmed the Mali international was left behind for disciplinary reasons.
“Bissouma isn’t with us because of disciplinary matters. He has been late on several occasions, and the most recent was one too many,” Frank explained. “We believe in showing care, but we also have standards. There must be consequences. This is one of them. We’ll address it further once we’re back home, but for now, we move on.”
Looking ahead to the showdown with PSG, Frank stressed the importance of structure and discipline in his team’s approach.
“I’m a strong believer in principles, both in attack and defence,” he said. “We want a clear structure when building play from the back, control in the middle phases, and, ultimately, the goal of scoring in the final third.
“For the club, for me, and for everyone connected with Tottenham, this is a huge match, a great challenge, but also an even greater opportunity. I always focus on opportunities rather than pressure, and we will go all out to embrace the moment.”
