Manchester United Close in on Belgian Goalkeeper Senne Lammens
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for an initial €21 million (£18.1m), with potential add-ons included, Sport360NG reports.
The move ends United’s pursuit of Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, as Lammens is set to travel to Manchester to finalise a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
The transfer comes as United look to strengthen their goalkeeping options following a series of errors. Turkey’s Altay Bayindir has struggled in league matches, while last season’s first-choice keeper, Andre Onana, was partly to blame for a goal in their EFL Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby.
“I think it is hard to be a Manchester United goalkeeper at this moment,” head coach Ruben Amorim commented after his team’s 3-2 victory over Burnley on Saturday.
United insiders describe Lammens as a highly promising young talent with significant potential.

Lammens joined Antwerp on a free transfer from Club Brugge in 2023 and has since made 64 appearances for the Belgian club, including helping them lift the Belgian Super Cup in the same year.
Although he has not yet featured for Belgium’s senior team, Lammens earned his first call-up in March 2025 and is considered a potential long-term successor to Thibaut Courtois. In the 2024-25 season, he played 30 league games and recorded seven clean sheets.
Before the agreement with Manchester United, Lammens was notably left out of Antwerp’s squads for consecutive Belgian Pro League matches against KV Mechelen and KVC Westerlo.
Further updates are expected as the transfer is finalised.
