FIFA unveils ‘Trionda’ as official match ball for 2026 World Cup
FIFA has unveiled the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, a high-tech creation named Trionda, designed by Adidas to honor the three host nations, the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Presented at an event in New York on Thursday, FIFA president Gianni Infantino described the ball as a proud symbol of unity and innovation.
Its name and design were inspired by the first World Cup to be jointly hosted by three countries, featuring 48 teams.
The ball carries red, blue, and green tones, with maple leaves representing Canada, an eagle for Mexico, and stars for the United States, alongside a triangular motif signifying the bond among the hosts.
Beyond its symbolic design, Trionda incorporates cutting-edge features, including deep seams for flight stability, embossed icons for better grip in wet conditions, and a motion sensor chip that will provide real-time ball movement data to the video assistant referee (VAR) system.
The unveiling comes as preparations intensify for the tournament scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
FIFA has already launched phased online ticket sales, with more than 4.5 million fans from 216 countries and territories entering the presale draw.
The final tournament draw is slated for December 5 in Washington.
