Werder Bremen could cut Victor Boniface loan short
German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen are reportedly considering ending the loan spell of Nigeria international Victor Boniface, Sport360NG reports.
The Super Eagles striker has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen, following a collapsed transfer to Italian side AC Milan. Boniface has yet to score for Bremen this season and has contributed just two assists across all competitions.
Werder Bremen’s Sporting Director, Clemens Fritz, spoke after the club’s recent clash with Augsburg, acknowledging that the forward’s future at the club is uncertain.
“Victor is injured at the moment, and we are in contact with the Leverkusen medical team,” Fritz told Deichstube. “We want to let it calm down a bit for now. He’ll switch off for a few days, but then we’ll have to see how it develops. After that, however, the topic of his sporting future could well be on the table.”
The Nigerian international’s underwhelming performances and current injury issues have intensified speculation that his loan stint could be cut short.
