Manchester United Ready to Offload Onana Amid Transfer Interest
Manchester United have reportedly made goalkeeper André Onana available for transfer, just a year after his high-profile arrival from Inter Milan, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils are believed to be seeking around £30 million for the Cameroonian shot-stopper, who joined the club last summer in a £47.2 million deal. Although French club AS Monaco have shown interest, they are said to be reluctant to meet United’s valuation. The Ligue 1 side remain keen but are unlikely to make a move in the current window.
Newly established Saudi outfit NEOM SC also considered a Deal for Onana but walked away from talks after the player made it clear he had no interest in a switch to the Middle East. The club has since turned its attention elsewhere, securing the signature of Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka from Nice.
Despite the ongoing speculation, Onana is expected to stay at Old Trafford for now. The 28-year-old reported back for pre-season training at Carrington on Monday, and sources suggest manager Rúben Amorim and goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital are content with his form and plan to retain him as first-choice heading into the new campaign.
Onana endured a mixed debut season in England, with several high-profile mistakes in the Premier League and Europa League drawing criticism. Nonetheless, Amorim is thought to be focused on reinforcing United’s attack this summer, rather than implementing widespread changes across the squad.
United remain open to selling Onana should an acceptable offer come in, with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez and Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi reportedly among the options being considered by INEOS as potential replacements.
