The Lagos State Government has reiterated its dedication to promoting a healthier lifestyle through its monthly Keep Fit Lagos programme, which staged its eighth edition on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

The event, designed to foster both physical and mental wellness, attracted participants from various age groups, all of whom took part in a series of aerobic exercises coordinated by certified fitness trainers.

Damilare Orimoloye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, commended the strong turnout and emphasized the government’s continued effort to take the initiative to every part of the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.

“This programme was set up to inspire Lagosians to embrace a healthy lifestyle. The growing participation confirms we’re heading in the right direction, and we’re committed to broadening its impact,” Orimoloye said.

Prior to the workout sessions, attendees were offered free health screenings, including vital checks, to help monitor their medical well-being and encourage preventive healthcare practices.

Also speaking at the event, Onaopepo Adu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports Marketing and Administration, noted that the initiative has sparked a renewed consciousness among residents about the importance of personal health and wellness.

“This is more than a workout event, it’s about building a long-term culture of healthy living in our communities,” Adu said.

Well-known fitness advocate Maje Ayida also threw his support behind the programme, applauding the increasing enthusiasm among Lagosians for both physical activity and mental well-being.

The next edition of Keep Fit Lagos is slated to take place in Ikorodu, marking the first time the community will host the event as the programme continues its rotation across Lagos State’s five administrative divisions.
