Denmark women’s national team coach Andrée Jeglertz has been appointed as the new head coach of Manchester City Women and will assume the role following the conclusion of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

The 53-year-old Swede has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, succeeding Gareth Taylor, who was dismissed in March after a disappointing campaign. Former manager Nick Cushing stepped in on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.

City, who narrowly lost the 2024 Women’s Super League title to Chelsea on the final day, endured a frustrating 2024/25 season marked by injuries and inconsistent performances. The team ultimately finished fourth, falling just one point short of Champions League qualification.

Speaking on his appointment, Jeglertz said: “Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a hugely talented squad. My aim is to build on the work that has already been done and push this team to even greater heights.”

“We want to win, develop players, and improve every day. My commitment is to help the team play attractive, winning football and continue progressing.”

Jeglertz brings a wealth of experience at both club and international level. He previously led Swedish club Umeå to UEFA Women’s Cup glory in 2004 and took charge of Finland’s national team in 2010. He became Denmark’s head coach following the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and successfully guided them to Euro 2025, where they’ve been drawn alongside Germany, Poland, and Sweden in Group C.
