Luis Díaz Set for Bayern Munich Switch in €75m Deal
Luis Díaz is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga giants reached an agreement with Liverpool for a transfer worth €75 million (£65.5 million), including performance-related add-ons, Sport360NG reports.
Bayern had seen an earlier offer of £58.6 million rejected, but the German champions have now made a breakthrough in negotiations to secure the Colombian winger’s services.
The 28-year-old was notably absent from Liverpool’s squad in their 4-2 pre-season loss to AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, with growing speculation over his future prompting the Reds to grant him permission to leave their Asia tour and travel to Europe for a medical.
Díaz is expected to complete the formalities of the move in the coming days.
Having arrived at Anfield from FC Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37 million, Díaz has made 148 appearances and scored 41 goals for Liverpool. He was a key figure in the club’s Premier League title triumph last season, contributing 13 league goals.
The 2024–25 campaign marked the most prolific spell of his career, with Díaz netting 17 goals in all competitions.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been active in reshaping their attacking options this summer, bringing in Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, and showing interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
Bayern, who clinched their 34th Bundesliga crown last season with a league-best 99 goals, are looking to strengthen their frontline further. The need for reinforcements became more urgent following a serious injury to Jamal Musiala, who suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle at the Club World Cup and is expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Why Díaz Fits the Bayern Profile
Díaz’s appeal to Bayern extends beyond his goal-scoring prowess. His 18.3% shot conversion rate last season was the best of his Premier League career. He also tallied 18 combined goals and assists, narrowly missing out on a top-10 league ranking.
In addition to 30 shots on target, 56 chances created, and 52 successful dribbles, Díaz displayed remarkable defensive contribution. He recovered possession in the final third 22 times, more than any other Liverpool player when adjusted for playing time, highlighting his relentless work rate and pressing ability.
His move to Bavaria will not only provide Bayern with another dynamic attacking outlet but also a player who contributes significantly on both sides of the ball.
