Lookman Cuts Ties with Atalanta on Social Media After Inter Bid Rejected

Ademola Lookman has sparked transfer speculation after scrubbing his Instagram of all things Atalanta, in the wake of the club’s rejection of a fresh offer from Inter Milan, Sport360NG reports.

The Nigerian winger unfollowed Atalanta’s official account, deleted photos of himself in the club’s colours, including his profile picture, and removed any mention of the Italian side from his bio. The move follows Atalanta’s decision to turn down Inter’s latest proposal worth €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons.

Atalanta remain firm on their €60 million valuation of the 27-year-old, despite Lookman reportedly reaching personal terms with Inter. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, this latest bid from Inter marked an improvement on an earlier €40 million offer, which was also rejected.

The club’s firm stance is believed to be influenced by a sell-on clause agreed with RB Leipzig, Lookman’s former club. The agreement obliges Atalanta to hand over 10% of any profit up to €20 million and 15% beyond that threshold, reducing the net gain from any potential sale.

With Atalanta holding out for their full asking price, Inter may now explore alternative targets, while Premier League clubs remain on alert over Lookman’s availability.

Lookman, notably absent from Atalanta’s pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig in Germany on Saturday, has enjoyed a standout spell with the Bergamo-based side since arriving from Leipzig in 2022 for €10.8 million. He has scored 52 goals in 118 appearances for the club.

His crowning moment came in the 2023/24 Europa League final, where he netted a historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen, sealing Atalanta’s first-ever European trophy. That performance helped him secure the CAF African Footballer of the Year award, following in the footsteps of fellow Super Eagle Victor Osimhen.
