Broja joins Burnley on five-year deal move from Chelsea

While the exact transfer fee was not made public, reports from British outlets suggest Burnley will pay Chelsea an initial £10 million ($13.4 million), with the possibility of an additional £5 million ($6.7 million) in performance-related bonuses, Sport360NG reports.

Broja, who joined Chelsea’s youth setup from Tottenham at the age of eight in 2009, progressed through the ranks to make 38 first-team appearances, netting nine goals.

Despite his roots at Stamford Bridge, the English-born forward, who represents Albania internationally, reflecting his heritage, spent several seasons on loan at other clubs, including a stint at Everton last year. However, Everton opted not to sign him permanently, and with Chelsea reinforcing their attack by bringing in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Broja chose to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

The 23-year-old, who has also featured for Southampton and Fulham in the Premier League, expressed his enthusiasm after completing the move: “I’m thrilled to join Burnley at such an exciting time for the club ahead of the new Premier League campaign. I’m ready, feeling fit, and eager to contribute. Every time I wear the claret shirt, I’ll give my absolute best.”

Burnley have also strengthened their squad this summer by adding Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu as they prepare for their return to England’s top division.
