West Ham complete £20m move for Leicester keeper Hermansen
West Ham United have secured the signing of Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from Leicester City in a deal worth about £20 million, Sport360NG reports.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the option of a further 12 months after the two clubs reached an agreement on Thursday, ending weeks of negotiations.
Hermansen was a standout performer for Leicester during the 2024-25 campaign despite the club’s drop from the Premier League. He will now challenge Alphonse Areola for the starting spot at the London Stadium following the departure of long-serving goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski at the end of last season.
The Denmark international will be reunited with West Ham goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren, who previously worked with him at Brøndby.
During his time at Leicester, Hermansen made 72 appearances and helped the club secure the Championship title in 2024. His exit comes shortly after midfielder Wilfred Ndidi also left the Foxes, joining Turkish side Besiktas on Friday after triggering a £9 million relegation release clause.
