National Youth Games: All 36 States to Compete in Asaba
Asaba is gearing up to host more than 6,300 athletes and officials for the 9th National Youth Games, which will take place from August 29 to September 6, Sport360NG reports.
The National Sports Commission confirmed that a total of 6,382 participants from all 36 states successfully completed the Digital Registration Management process ahead of the multi-sport event.
Since its inception, the Youth Games have become a major fixture in Nigeria’s sporting calendar, serving as a platform to discover emerging talents while fostering unity among young people across the country.
This year’s competition will feature 37 sporting events, with athletes expected to showcase their skills, resilience, and teamwork over nine days of action.
Hosts and defending champions Team Delta will once again be the team to beat, though strong opposition from other states promises an intense battle for medals in Asaba.
The NSC described the Games as “a celebration of talent, resilience, and national unity,” emphasizing their role in grooming the nation’s future sports stars.
