Wolves Set to Sign Nigerian Striker Tolu Arokodare for €27m
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian side Genk for a fee of €27 million, with the 23-year-old scheduled to undergo a medical on Saturday, Sport360NG reports.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on social media, noting that Wolves and Genk finalized the agreement on Friday night. “EXCLUSIVE: Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker,” Romano wrote.
Arokodare has been a target for Wolves amid interest from AC Milan, who turned their focus to the Nigerian forward after failing to secure Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder. Last season, Arokodare was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League, netting 23 goals and contributing seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
This season, the forward’s playing time at Genk has been limited, with only five substitute appearances so far, as transfer speculation affected his role in the squad. Genk sporting director Dimitri De Condé had earlier described Arokodare’s departure as “99 per cent” likely, adding that the striker is “very well in the market and ready to take the next step.”
The potential signing marks a major boost for Wolves as they aim to bolster their attacking options ahead of the Premier League campaign.
