Sean Dyche in advanced talks to become nottingham forest manager
Nottingham Forest are closing in on appointing Sean Dyche as their new manager following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, Sport360NG reports.
The former Everton and Burnley boss has emerged as the leading candidate for the role, with discussions between Dyche and Forest understood to be at an advanced stage. Club officials are hopeful of finalising an agreement by Monday.

Postecoglou was relieved of his duties just minutes after Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea, a result that left Forest 18th in the Premier League table with only one win from eight matches.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Dyche’s prospects of landing the job have strengthened considerably over the weekend after a series of positive meetings with the Forest hierarchy.
Former Italy manager Roberto Mancini is also believed to have been considered for the position, while Fulham’s Marco Silva remains a long-term admirer of owner Evangelos Marinakis. However, Silva’s existing contract, which includes a substantial release clause, and Fulham’s reluctance to lose their coach mid-season have made that option increasingly unlikely.
At this stage, Dyche is viewed as the clear frontrunner, with the club cooling interest in other candidates due to availability and financial constraints.
Managerial Turmoil at the City Ground
Forest’s search for stability continues after a turbulent start to the campaign. Marinakis has already made two managerial changes this season, dismissing Nuno Espírito Santo after just three matches before turning to Postecoglou in early September.
Postecoglou’s 39-day spell in charge is now the shortest permanent managerial tenure in Premier League history.
For Dyche, the potential move would mark a return to familiar surroundings, he was part of Forest’s youth setup in the late 1980s under legendary manager Brian Clough, though he never made a senior appearance for the club.
The 54-year-old has been out of management since leaving Everton in January, after guiding the Toffees to 17th and 15th-place finishes across two Premier League seasons. His record at Goodison Park stood at 21 wins, 31 defeats, and 23 draws from 75 league games.
Before his spell on Merseyside, Dyche enjoyed a successful decade at Burnley, earning two promotions to the Premier League and securing European qualification in 2018, the club’s first continental campaign in over 50 years.
A former centre-back, Dyche made over 500 professional appearances during his playing career, representing clubs such as Chesterfield, Bristol City, Millwall, Watford, and Northampton Town.
