Barcelona set for long-awaited return to newly renovated spotify Camp Nou
FC Barcelona are set to return to the refurbished Spotify Camp Nou this week, with Athletic Club confirmed as their first opponents at the revamped stadium, Sport360NG reports.
The Catalan side have been away from their historic ground for more than a year as extensive reconstruction works continued under the Espai Barça project. During that period, Barça hosted their home matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday via X that Barcelona will finally head back to their modernised home, welcoming Athletic Club for the stadium’s reopening fixture.
The occasion marks a significant milestone for the club, as supporters prepare to experience the upgraded Camp Nou for the first time. The match is expected to attract a capacity crowd for what will be the official unveiling of the new-look stadium.
Further information regarding final preparations and pre-match ceremonies is expected to be released by the club shortly.
Numerous sport sites previously reported that Barcelona were initially scheduled to return to Camp Nou in August, but those plans were delayed due to licensing issues.
