AFCON 2025: Uzoho emphasises unity, endorses Nwabali for Tanzania match
Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has reaffirmed his commitment to team unity, insisting he will fully support Stanley Nwabali if the in-form shot-stopper retains his place for Nigeria’s next match against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Sport360NG reports.
Nigeria are set to face the Taifa Stars in their upcoming Group fixture, with competition still ongoing for the starting role between the posts.
Uzoho, who plies his trade in Cyprus, recently returned to the national team after nearly a year on the sidelines. Speaking on his role within the squad, the 26-year-old stressed that collective success remains his top priority, regardless of personal ambitions.
“When Nwabali was selected as first choice, I had to support him. That is exactly what I will continue to do if he is still the one chosen to play,” Uzoho said in an interview with Elegbete TV.
Nwabali has earned widespread praise for his calmness and reliability in recent appearances for the Super Eagles. Uzoho’s remarks further highlight the atmosphere of unity within the Nigerian camp as the team pushes forward in its AFCON 2025 campaign.
