Flamengo step up pursuit of Paquetá with improved €41m bid

Flamengo have submitted an improved offer in excess of €41 million (£35.5m) for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paquetá as negotiations continue ahead of next week’s transfer deadline, Sport360NG reports.

The latest proposal, understood to have been made verbally, represents the Brazilian club’s most significant move yet in what has become a drawn-out pursuit of the 28-year-old.

Paquetá is keen on a return to Brazil and is open to joining Flamengo during the current window. West Ham, meanwhile, have indicated a willingness to sanction a permanent transfer provided the forward remains at the London Stadium on loan until the end of the season.

However, the Hammers’ stance may be hardening. David Moyes’ side have recorded three consecutive victories for the first time since 2023 despite Paquetá’s recent absence, a run that has slightly eased immediate pressure.

Even so, West Ham continue to hover in the relegation places, sitting 18th in the Premier League, with the club weighing up the sporting and financial implications of any late decision.
