Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey paid special tribute to their mothers as part of celebrations marking International Women’s Day ahead of Fulham FC’s FA Cup clash with Southampton FC, Sport360NG reports.

The Nigerian internationals wore customised white Fulham tracksuits with their mothers’ names printed on the back, a symbolic gesture acknowledging the important role their mothers have played in shaping their personal lives and football careers.

The initiative formed part of Fulham’s activities to commemorate International Women’s Day, highlighting the influence and contributions of women both within football and in wider society.

Iwobi and Bassey showcased the personalised outfits during the pre-match build-up, using the occasion to celebrate their mothers and recognise the impact of women who inspire and support future generations.

Both players remain key members of the Nigeria national football team and were part of the squad that secured a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
