Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or following a standout debut season with Napoli, Sport360NG reports.

The 28-year-old Scotland international is among the 30 nominees for football’s most prestigious individual honour, which will be awarded on 22 September.

McTominay’s inclusion comes on the back of a remarkable first campaign in Italy after sealing a £25 million switch from Manchester United in 2024. He played a pivotal role in Napoli’s title-winning run, registering 12 goals across 34 league appearances and was named Serie A Player of the Year.

Among the frontrunners for the Ballon d’Or is Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembélé, whose electric form under Luis Enrique helped the French giants lift the UEFA Champions League title in Munich.

Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal and Brazilian winger Raphinha also feature prominently on the list after inspiring Hansi Flick’s side to the La Liga crown.

Manchester City’s Rodri, who won the 2024 edition of the award, is also nominated again.
