Serie A clubs join growing European interest in Nigerian winger Sani Suleiman
Several Serie A sides have joined a growing list of European clubs monitoring Nigerian winger Sani Suleiman, as interest in the AS Trencin forward continues to surge, Sport360NG reports.
The 19-year-old moved to the Slovakian club from Akwa United in September 2024 and has quickly caught the eye of major teams, including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayer Leverkusen.
Suleiman’s breakthrough in the Slovak top division has sparked wider attention across the continent, with Italian clubs now entering the race for his signature. Since arriving in Europe, he has recorded 10 goal contributions in 36 appearances, already surpassing his previous season’s output with three goals and two assists in eight league games this term.
His performances have earned widespread recognition, with the CIES Football Observatory naming him among the most complete under-21 wingers in Europe. Journalist Rudy Galetti noted in his Substack newsletter that leading clubs from England, Scotland, Germany, and now Italy, are positioning themselves for a potential move.
“Several top European clubs are monitoring his situation closely. Chelsea, Tottenham, Rangers, and Bayer Leverkusen have all shown concrete interest, while top Serie A sides have recently joined the competition to secure an advantage,” Galetti reported.
Suleiman’s contract with Trencin runs until the end of the season, but the Slovakian club holds the option to extend it by two years, potentially keeping him in Slovakia until June 2028.
The winger’s progress has also been noticed at the international level. He earned his first Nigeria U-20 call-up in September and made three appearances at the U-20 World Cup.
