Chelsea and Garnacho agree on personal terms.

The 21-year-old Manchester United prospect is said to have expressed a strong preference to join Chelsea, making it clear since July that Stamford Bridge is his desired destination. Negotiations between Chelsea and Manchester United over the transfer fee are expected to begin soon, Sport360NG reports.

Garnacho’s possible transfer is part of Chelsea’s broader strategy to strengthen their attacking lineup under manager Enzo Maresca. The club is also pursuing a move for Dutch international Xavi Simons, highlighting their ambition to assemble a vibrant and youthful squad.

If both deals are completed, Chelsea could boast one of Europe’s most promising young attacking units ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The uncertainty around Garnacho’s future at Manchester United has increased following remarks and incidents involving manager Rúben Amorim after the team’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham last May.

Amorim faced criticism for allegedly telling Garnacho to “find somewhere else to play” right after the loss, which seemed to worsen tensions between the player and the manager.

Although Garnacho joined the squad on their post-season Asian tour, he appeared withdrawn and less engaged. His absence from United’s recent pre-season trip to the United States has only added to the speculation about his future.

During the team’s stop in Chicago, Amorim commented on the situation, saying:
“You can see his talent, he’s a very gifted player. But sometimes things just don’t work out.”

He continued, “I can’t always explain why, but it’s clear to me that Garnacho is seeking something different, with a different style of leadership.”

Amorim concluded by reflecting on the nature of football careers: “Sometimes players connect well with a coach, sometimes they don’t, and often a fresh challenge is what a player needs. That’s just part of the game.”
