Nottingham Forest land £37.5m deal for Omari Hutchinson
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of winger Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town in a deal worth £37.5m, Sport360NG reports.
The 21-year-old England Under-21 international has committed to a five-year contract at the City Ground and becomes the club’s latest major addition ahead of the new campaign.
“I’m really excited to be here and can’t wait to get started,” Hutchinson said. “I’ve played at the City Ground before and always felt the atmosphere was tough for visiting teams, so I’m looking forward to experiencing it with the fans on my side. This is a new chapter for me and I feel ready to give it everything.”
His arrival comes shortly after head coach Nuno Espirito Santo raised concerns about Forest’s transfer activity, with the Portuguese boss warning his squad needed strengthening to cope with the return of European football after three decades.
The Europa League qualifiers are set to be joined by further reinforcements, with Forest close to wrapping up a £30m move for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee and also in advanced negotiations with Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo. The three signings combined are expected to push Forest’s summer outlay towards £90m.
The East Midlands club have already brought in Dan Ndoye from Bologna and continue to reshape their squad following Anthony Elanga’s record £55m switch to Newcastle.
Hutchinson, who netted in England Under-21’s extra-time victory over Germany in the European Championship final in June, initially joined Ipswich from Chelsea for £20m last summer. He scored three goals in 31 league appearances during the 2024-25 campaign but was unable to prevent Ipswich’s relegation back to the Championship.
