Crystal Palace enquire about City defender Akanji
Crystal Palace have expressed an interest in Manchester City centre-back Manuel Akanji, Sport360NG reports.
While the south London club have not submitted a formal offer, BBC Sport understands Palace have contacted City to explore the possibility of signing the Switzerland international.
City are believed to value the 30-year-old at around £15m. Akanji, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has yet to appear in the Premier League this season but played a central role in last year’s Treble triumph, starting the Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.
Turkish champions Galatasaray are also monitoring his situation.
Earlier this month, Pep Guardiola made clear that City’s focus was on reducing squad numbers after investing more than £150m in six new signings. The City manager admitted it was “not healthy” to have such a large group and hinted that player exits were likely before the deadline.
Goalkeeper Ederson has been linked with Galatasaray, while Tottenham are in discussions over winger Savinho.
The transfer window shuts at 19:00 BST on Monday.
