Andre Onana leaves Manchester United for Trabzonspor loan move

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has completed a season-long loan switch to Turkish side Trabzonspor, Sport360NG reports.

The deal was finalised ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline in Turkey, with United confirming the move is still subject to international clearance and registration.

Onana, 29, has been out of favour under new boss Ruben Amorim and did not feature in any of United’s first three Premier League matches. His only outing this campaign came in the shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town.

Signed from Inter Milan for £47.2m in the summer of 2023 by then-manager Erik ten Hag, the Cameroon international arrived as David de Gea’s successor. He has gone on to make 102 appearances for the club and was part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup in 2024.

However, his time at Old Trafford has been marred by inconsistency and high-profile errors. United bolstered their goalkeeping ranks on deadline day with the £18.1m signing of Belgian stopper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, a deal that could rise with add-ons.

Amorim will now choose between Lammens, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as his goalkeeping options when United travel to face Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
