Griezmann hails Lookman’s dream Atletico debut after Copa del rey impact
Antoine Griezmann has welcomed Ademola Lookman to Atlético Madrid, praising the Nigerian winger’s instant impact and the club’s supportive environment following his debut display, Sport360NG reports.
Lookman, who sealed a deadline-day move to the Spanish side during the winter transfer window, made an immediate impression by scoring on his first appearance as Atlético cruised to an emphatic Copa del Rey victory over Real Betis.
Speaking after the match, Griezmann highlighted the seamless integration of new arrivals at the club and singled out Lookman’s contribution as a sign of things to come.
“Regarding Lookman, the idea is to enjoy the new players and let them give us nights of joy like this one,” the French forward said. “We are a team, a dressing room, a club and a fanbase that makes things easy.
“From the first second, every new player is welcomed with open arms, and you can see that with the new signings.”
Lookman’s lively debut has already won over sections of the Atlético support, with optimism growing that the Super Eagles winger could play a decisive role as the club pushes for silverware in the latter part of the season.
