Fulham Enter Race to Sign Nigeria’s Arokodare

Fulham have joined the list of clubs keen on securing the services of prolific Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The 24-year-old forward caught widespread attention after finishing as top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season, netting 17 times in the league and 23 goals in all competitions for Genk.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Arokodare’s blend of strength, speed, and finishing prowess has made him one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers this summer. Interest in him has already come from Manchester United and AC Milan, but Fulham are now making a strong push for his signature.

According to reports from The Sun UK, the London club have begun preliminary discussions with the striker’s camp following his recent change of representation — a move that may be aimed at securing a Premier League transfer.

The report claims that Fulham are actively “plotting a summer move” for the Genk frontman and are hoping the presence of Nigerian internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage could help sway the decision in their favour, given Arokodare’s personal connection with both players.

In a recent interview with PUNCH Sports Extra, Arokodare expressed his long-standing admiration for Manchester United and hinted that playing in England would be a dream move.

“Of course, that would be a dream,” he said when asked about reported interest from the Red Devils. “I’m a Manchester United fan myself, so if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. But right now, my focus remains on Genk.”

While United and Sporting Lisbon have monitored Arokodare as a possible alternative to higher-priced targets like Viktor Gyökeres or Victor Osimhen, Fulham’s early approach could give them the edge in negotiations. The Sun also noted that Arokodare is “keen to play in the Premier League,” a stance that further strengthens Fulham’s chances.

The Cottagers, under the guidance of Marco Silva, are aiming to improve on last season’s 10th-place finish in the Premier League. Despite Raul Jimenez scoring 12 goals and Iwobi adding nine, the club feels it still lacks a consistent finisher to help push for a European spot.

With a price tag reportedly around £15 million, Arokodare presents a more affordable alternative to some of the market’s high-profile strikers. His physical attributes and proven goal-scoring ability have placed him high on Fulham’s transfer shortlist.

Silva is believed to be an admirer of Arokodare’s style and sees him as well-equipped to handle the intensity of English football. Fulham are expected to act swiftly amid growing interest from rival clubs.

Arokodare’s rising status was underlined by his recent win of the Belgian league’s Ebony Boot, awarded to the best African player in the competition. He also earned a call-up to the Nigerian national team, where he has scored once in four senior appearances.

Despite mounting speculation over his future, Arokodare remains patient and grounded. Speaking again to PUNCH Sports Extra, he acknowledged his ambition to play in England but emphasised that he won’t rush into any decision.

“Obviously, it’s a dream of mine to play in the Premier League,” he said. “That’s where my eyes are, but I’m also open to other great opportunities. I want to make the right choice when the time comes.”
