Kyle Walker Joins Burnley in £5m Move from Manchester City

Veteran defender Kyle Walker has completed a permanent switch to Premier League newcomers Burnley, signing a two-year deal in a transfer worth around £5 million.

The 35-year-old England international leaves Manchester City after a decorated stint that saw him lift six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy. He made 410 appearances in the English top flight and joined City in 2017 from Tottenham.

Walker, who spent the latter half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Italian giants AC Milan, returns to England after the Serie A club opted not to activate a purchase clause.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said the right-back in a statement released by Burnley on Saturday. “When I spoke with Scott Parker and learned about his vision for the club, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of.”

Walker also praised Parker’s achievement in guiding Burnley back to the Premier League with a record-setting 100-point campaign. “We’re both excited to now take this challenge into the best league in the world,” he added.

With 96 caps for England, Walker was not part of Manchester City’s squad for the ongoing Club World Cup, prompting speculation about his future.

The move also marks a reunion with Burnley boss Scott Parker, who shared a dressing room with Walker during their time together at Tottenham between 2011 and 2013.
