Jacob Ramsey Chooses Newcastle as Transfer Negotiations Advance
Newcastle United are reportedly in advanced talks with Aston Villa over the potential transfer of midfielder Jacob Ramsey, with the player set to hold crucial discussions with the Midlands club within the next 24 hours, Sport360NG reports.
Sources indicate that both clubs are working toward finalizing a deal to bring Ramsey to St James’ Park ahead of the transfer deadline, with an agreement said to be within reach.
The 24-year-old is expected to meet with Villa officials before deciding on his next move. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is reportedly eager to secure the midfielder’s signature. Should Villa agree to the transfer and Ramsey choose to leave, negotiations over personal terms with the Magpies would follow.
Ramsey has also attracted attention from West Ham this summer, but if he departs Villa Park, Newcastle is believed to be his preferred destination. Since making his senior debut for Aston Villa in 2019, Ramsey has scored 17 goals in 167 appearances and was a regular under manager Unai Emery last season.
This would be Newcastle’s third addition of the summer, following the permanent signings of winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest and defender Malick Thiaw from AC Milan, as well as the loan acquisition of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton.
