Spurs relieve pressure on Thomas Frank with convincing win over Brentford

Tottenham Hotspur delivered a much-needed boost to manager Thomas Frank with a commanding victory over his former club Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sport360NG reports.

Facing a side where Frank had previously earned admiration, Spurs rose to the occasion, following up their midweek draw at Newcastle with a performance that left little doubt over the outcome.

Summer signing Xavi Simons was the standout figure, setting up Richarlison for the opener before embarking on an audacious solo run from his own half to score his first goal for the club. From that moment, Tottenham controlled the game, rarely coming under sustained pressure in the second half as they closed out a deserved win.

Spurs’ Home Revival

Frank has faced scrutiny from Spurs supporters, who have questioned whether his methods and personality are sufficient to guide the club back toward the top of the Premier League. Discontent has flared following a 4-1 defeat at Arsenal and a 2-1 home loss to Fulham, leaving the manager under pressure to deliver results at home.

Prior to this match, Spurs had managed just three wins in 16 league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025, losing ten. This victory marks only their second home league triumph of the season, following the opening-day win over Burnley.

Simons, whose £52 million transfer from RB Leipzig raised expectations, showcased the quality Spurs hoped to acquire, orchestrating the attack alongside Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, and Randal Kolo Muani. For a team that has rarely celebrated at home this season, this result offered a welcome respite.

Brentford Struggle on the Road

Brentford arrived with hopes of securing only their second away victory in the league this season. Tottenham’s home form and an atmosphere charged with criticism for the team’s recent struggles seemed an opportunity for the visitors to exploit.

Instead, Brentford produced a subdued performance, offering little threat after conceding the opener. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was tested only once, denying Igor Thiago with the score at 0-0, as Spurs maintained control throughout.

Manager Keith Andrews, who has occasionally inspired strong performances from his side this season, will have been left disappointed by Brentford’s lack of impact in a match they had reason to target.
