Mourinho Eyes Chukwueze as Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Fulham Battle for Winger
José Mourinho is reportedly targeting a move for Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze as part of his plans to strengthen Fenerbahçe’s squad ahead of the upcoming Turkish Süper Lig campaign, Sport360NG reports.
The AC Milan forward is drawing interest from multiple clubs, with Fulham and domestic rivals Beşiktaş also in pursuit of the 26-year-old. Chukwueze’s future at San Siro appears uncertain following an underwhelming debut season in Italy, sparking a three-way tussle for his signature.
Turkish outlet HaberHergun reports that Fenerbahçe are preparing a loan proposal that includes an option to make the deal permanent. Mourinho, newly appointed at the Istanbul club, is keen to inject more creativity into his frontline, having already overseen the arrivals of Jhon Durán, Milan Škriniar, and Nélson Semedo this summer.
Beşiktaş, now under the guidance of former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær, are also actively exploring a deal. Chukwueze’s agent is believed to be in Istanbul for discussions, although the Black Eagles’ opening bid reportedly falls short of Milan’s valuation.
The club, which has already added striker Tammy Abraham and midfielder Orkun Kökçü to its ranks, sees Chukwueze as a key target, particularly as his close friend and Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen has joined arch-rivals Galatasaray, raising the stakes in the Istanbul derby.
In England, Fulham have rekindled interest in Chukwueze after failing to land him in January. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that discussions have resumed between the Premier League side and Milan, though terms are yet to be agreed.
A switch to Craven Cottage could offer Chukwueze a fresh start, potentially linking up with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey as he seeks to revive his form in a more familiar league.
Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal in 2023 for €21.1 million but failed to establish himself as a regular starter. He made 26 league appearances last season, with only nine starts, contributing three goals and two assists in 918 Serie A minutes.
