AFCON 2025: Super Eagles intensify preparations ahead of AFCON knockout clash with Mozambique
The Super Eagles stepped up their preparations on Friday evening, with 25 players participating in a focused training session as the team shifts its attention to the knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Sport360NG reports.
Ryan Alebiosu attended the session but remained on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a leg injury. Striker Cyriel Dessers has been ruled out of the tournament due to a thigh problem and has returned to his club for further evaluation and treatment. Midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi also missed training after coming down with a cold.

Head coach Eric Chelle addressed the squad during the session, urging the players to move past their group-stage success and concentrate fully on the challenges of the knockout rounds. He emphasized the importance of focus, discipline, and maintaining high performance as the competition progresses.
Nigeria, who topped Group C with a perfect nine points, will take on the third-placed team from Group F, Mozambique, on Monday at the Fez Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 pm.
