Pinnick urges Amunike to prove credentials at club level before super eagles role

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has advised ex-Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amunike to establish himself at club level before being considered for a role with the national team, Sport360NG reports.

Pinnick made the remarks while speaking on a YouTube programme hosted by former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh, where he stressed that tangible success with a club remains the primary pathway to the Super Eagles coaching job.

According to Pinnick, Amuneke should channel his energy into achieving results with Heartland FC, where he is currently head coach, rather than focusing on aspirations of handling the national side.

He pointed to the progress of Finidi George at Rivers United as an example of how club-level success strengthens a coach’s credentials.

Pinnick maintained that performance and results should be the standard for any coach seeking to lead the Super Eagles, adding that the national team role demands proven competence and consistency.

“The Super Eagles is not a job for just anyone,” he said, emphasizing that aspiring coaches must first demonstrate their ability by delivering success with their clubs.
