Super Eagles’ Fisayo Dele-Bashiru Weds Moroccan Partner Nana Bensouna in Manchester
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has officially tied the knot with his Moroccan girlfriend, Nana Bensouna, in a private nikkah ceremony held in Manchester, United Kingdom, Sport360NG reports.
The intimate event was attended by the couple’s families, including Otunba and Yeye Jagunmola Dele, Dupe Bashiru-Kaka, Mr. and Mrs. Bensouna, and other close relatives. Dele-Bashiru and Bensouna, who have maintained a relatively low-profile relationship, opted for a modest celebration with only their immediate loved ones present.
The wedding coincides with a significant summer for Dele-Bashiru, who is preparing for a fresh chapter under Lazio’s new head coach, Maurizio Sarri. The midfielder is expected to play a central role this season after impressing Sarri during pre-season matches against Avellino and Fenerbahce.
Last season, Dele-Bashiru featured in 20 Serie A games for Lazio, netting three goals under Marco Baroni. Sarri has hinted that the Nigerian international could see increased involvement in Lazio’s upcoming campaign, beginning with their Serie A opener against Como on August 24.
“Dele-Bashiru is a very strong player who, with a few new skills, can make a big difference for us,” Sarri told Pazzidifanta. “I’ve also heard positive feedback about him from professionals outside Lazio, not just within the club, but sporting directors from other teams. He clearly possesses qualities that could be very valuable.”
Dele-Bashiru joined Lazio from Hatayspor last summer, initially on loan, before the Italian side secured his services permanently for around €5 million.
At the international level, the 24-year-old has earned seven caps for Nigeria, scoring twice. He made an immediate impact in his early appearances, assisting and winning a penalty against Mozambique in a friendly on October 16, 2023, before scoring a stunning equalizer in his competitive debut against South Africa during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
