Leeds complete £10m signing of Leicester’s James Justin
Leeds United have secured the signing of defender James Justin from Leicester City in a deal valued at £10m, Sport360NG reports.
The 27-year-old has penned a four-year contract at Elland Road, with the Whites paying an initial £8m and a further £2m in potential add-ons. He becomes the club’s 10th new arrival of the summer window.
Justin, who can operate on either flank, will not feature in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday but could be in contention when Leeds host Newcastle in the Premier League at the weekend.
A product of Luton Town’s academy, Justin joined Leicester in 2019 and went on to make 169 appearances, scoring 11 goals. He was part of the Foxes side that lifted the FA Cup in 2021 and played a role in last season’s Championship title-winning campaign. The defender also earned his first and only England cap in 2022 during a Nations League fixture against Hungary.
Speaking after completing his move, Justin said:
“Joining a club of this stature, with its history and being back in the Premier League, is massive for me. The atmosphere at Elland Road is one of the best in world football and I’m excited to have the supporters behind me this time instead of being on the opposite side.”
Leeds have been active in the market as they strengthen ahead of their top-flight return. Last week they brought in Switzerland international Noah Okafor from AC Milan for £18m, adding to an already busy recruitment drive.
Other additions include England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, midfielders Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff, goalkeeper Lucas Perri, defenders Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw, along with forward Lukas Nmecha.
Leicester, meanwhile, continue to reshape their squad following relegation. The sales of Justin, Conor Coady, Wilfred Ndidi, Mads Hermansen and Kasey McAteer have taken their income from departures close to £50m.
