Kroupi and Scott sink Wolves as Bournemouth claim rare consecutive league wins
Eli Junior Kroupi’s stunning first-half goal set Bournemouth on their way to a 2–0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, as the Cherries recorded back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since September, Sport360NG reports.
Fresh from a dramatic win over Liverpool last weekend, Bournemouth initially struggled to carve out clear chances but took the lead when Kroupi unleashed an emphatic, looping strike from just inside the area that left Wolves goalkeeper José Sá with no chance.
Alex Scott sealed the points late on, finishing calmly from close range after debutant Rayan delivered a low cross from the left to cap a resilient away performance.
The scoreline was harsh on Wolves, who produced several encouraging moments as they attempted to recover from last weekend’s defeat at Manchester City, their first league loss in four matches.
The hosts believed they had struck first after seven minutes when Mateus Mane headed in Rodrigo Gomes’ cross, only for the goal to be disallowed after the assistant referee flagged Gomes marginally offside in the build-up.
Bournemouth threatened to extend their lead either side of half-time, with Amine Adli and Alex Jimenez both denied by Sá. At the other end, Djordje Petrovic made a sharp reflex save to keep out Tolu Arokodare, while substitute Jorgen Strand Larsen dragged a presentable chance wide.
Wolves went close to equalising when João Gomes headed Hugo Bueno’s corner against the outside of the post during a sustained spell of pressure, but Scott’s stoppage-time finish ensured Andoni Iraola marked his 100th Premier League match in charge of Bournemouth with victory.
The result lifts Bournemouth to 12th place, leaving them five points shy of the top four despite having played a game more than most sides above them. Wolves, meanwhile, remain 17 points from safety with 14 matches remaining and an inferior goal difference to 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.
Bournemouth analysis
Bournemouth appear to be building momentum after ending an 11-game league winless run earlier this month. Kroupi’s opener, his eighth league goal of the season, transformed the contest and underlined his growing influence. The 19-year-old is now level with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal as the joint highest-scoring teenager across Europe’s top five leagues this campaign.
Although the visitors failed to double their advantage earlier, they defended resolutely and showed composure when it mattered, with Scott’s late goal finally allowing the travelling support to relax.
Wolves analysis
Despite the defeat, Wolves showed more urgency and creativity than in their previous outing, particularly down the right through Rodrigo Gomes. However, the absence of a consistent cutting edge proved costly.
Mane was unfortunate to see his early effort ruled out, while Wolves were later denied by the woodwork and their own finishing. Ultimately, those missed opportunities allowed Bournemouth to escape with maximum points.
