Lagos set for another global spotlight as E1 series returns in 2026

The E1 Series, the pioneering all-electric raceboat championship, has confirmed it will return to Lagos in 2026, extending Nigeria’s role as a key stop on its expanding global circuit. The decision follows the competition’s memorable African debut on the Lagos waterways in October 2025, Sport360NG reports.

Since launching in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last year, the championship has continued to widen its global reach. Lagos became the first African destination to feature on the calendar, hosting a thrilling event where Team Brazil captured their first E1 victory at the Lagos Grand Prix. Earlier this month in Miami, Team Brady, led by NFL icon Tom Brady, secured back-to-back world titles.

The 2026 campaign will feature eight races across four continents, with Lagos scheduled as the sixth round from October 3–4.

The new season begins in January in Jeddah before shifting to Europe in April for the return to Lake Como, Italy. The series will then move to Dubrovnik, Croatia, in June. July’s action takes place in Monaco, where newly formed Team Monaco will compete before their home crowd for the first time.

From Europe, the championship heads back to Africa, with Lagos set to once again deliver the vibrant scenes and record attendance that marked its first appearance on the calendar.

E1 will then complete the season in North America. Miami stages the penultimate round, its second race in the United States, before the series wraps up with a historic finale in the Bahamas, E1’s first event in the Caribbean.

E1 founder Alejandro Agag and CEO Rodi Basso said the 2026 lineup highlights the series’ commitment to promoting cleaner marine technology.

Agag noted that the new season “signals the next step in building a truly global championship that blends innovation with world-class coastal venues.”

He added that E1’s mission is to use competition as a platform to accelerate sustainable marine mobility: “Each season helps us reach more audiences and demonstrate what electric technology can achieve on water.”
