Edin Dzeko Seals Serie A Return with Fiorentina Move
Veteran forward Edin Dzeko has completed a return to Serie A, signing for Fiorentina on a free transfer after leaving Turkish side Fenerbahce, the Italian club confirmed on Thursday.
The 39-year-old has agreed to a one-year contract, which includes an option for an automatic extension into a second season based on performance-related criteria.
Dzeko is no stranger to Italian football, having previously spent six years at Roma before enjoying a successful two-season stint with Inter Milan, where he lifted back-to-back Coppa Italia titles in 2022 and 2023.
The Bosnian legend, who remains his country’s all-time top scorer, found the net 21 times across all competitions last season under José Mourinho at Fenerbahce. He brings a wealth of experience to Fiorentina, having also won two Premier League titles during his time at Manchester City.
Fiorentina, who finished sixth in Serie A last season and secured a place in the UEFA Conference League, are also undergoing changes in the dugout. Former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli is widely expected to take charge following the unexpected exit of Raffaele Palladino.
